Millions of vehicle accidents of varying degrees occur daily. The top three contributing factors of auto accidents are distracted driving, cell phone use while behind the wheel, and speeding. In addition to these factors, other actions that often contribute to vehicle accidents are driving while intoxicated and failing to stop at stop signs and stop lights. Speeding is a contributing factor in one out of every three fatal vehicle accidents. Additionally, there are three types of distracted driving. Drivers can either drive distractedly by visual, manual, or cognitive distraction. Visual distraction involves a driver removing their eyes from the road, while manual distraction occurs when a driver removes their hands off of the steering wheel. Lastly, cognitive distraction is when a driver is not mentally focused driving, which can be very dangerous.
