Mother Pushing Stroller Struck By Bus in Queens, New York

A 43-year-old woman was pushing her 3-year-old daughter in Queens, New
York when a city bus struck her in a
pedestrian accident. Witnesses reported that the woman was pinned under the front wheels of
the bus briefly. The child was not injured, but the bus wheel crushed
the woman’s leg. An ambulance rushed her to a local hospital where
she was listed in critical condition but has since improved. Police indicated
that there have not been any charges filed against the driver and none
are expected. Recently the Mayor unveiled a plan “Vision Zero”
to help reduce traffic crashes and fatalities in the city. The city bus
union also said that it would welcome any street changes to help save lives.
Pedestrians are at extreme risk with more than 150,000 being treated in
the United States for crashes with vehicles. Emergency rooms across the
nation treat pedestrians every day for injuries that can range from minor
to life-threatening. Luckily, we have easy access to doctors and medical
staff that can treat our injuries. But with this come medical bills, possible
physical therapy and lost time wages from work. It can be overwhelming,
exhausting and quite frightening to figure out how you and your family
will pay these expenses. Reaching a personal injury attorney should be
one of the first calls you make after an accident. An experienced attorney
will assess your situation, determine if a case is liable and help the
victim receive the care and compensation they deserve.
