Homeowner's Insurance Won't Pay The Bill
Posted By Meyerkord & Meyerkord, LLC
A California woman is battling her
insurance company after her property suffered severe water damaged. The La Jolla
woman says her HOA and her homeowner’s insurance are fighting who
should pay the bill. Meanwhile, the needed repairs for her home are at
a standstill. Her homeowner’s insurance wants the HAO to pay the
whole bill, which her HOA is refusing.
The property owner said a pipe burst and leaked through two stories of
her house, leaving extensive damage inside and outside her condominium
and garage. The woman says the estimate for all the repairs was over $11,000.
Like most of us, the property owner has been faithfully paying her homeowners
insurance with USAA for years. Now that she is in great need and repairs
are at a halt, the USAA is fighting with the HOA’s insurance over
who is responsible.
The woman chose to turn to the media for help, reaching out to a local
news station. With pressure from the media, USAA reevaluated her claim
and apologized for the inconvenience. The La Jolla woman was lucky; not
all battles with insurance companies end this way. Many times homeowners
have to turn to legal support to fight the insurance companies to pay out.
