Suit Filed for Tractor-Trailer Accident

|

Last month, a Chicago teacher was struck and killed by a tractor-trailer accident on 1-294. According to the Illinois State Police, the 54-year-old man was trying to help a woman and her young daughter to safety after a car accident. As he was helping the 38-year-old woman and her 4-year-old daughter into his SUV on the shoulder of the southbound lane on I-294 near Touhy in Des Plaines, a tractor-trailer struck and killed the man. Authorities report the man was pronounced dead at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital, located in Park Ridge, Chicago. The Chicago teacher’s wife is now filing a lawsuit against the distribution company that operated the tractor-trailer that struck her husband.

The lawsuit was filed in the Cook County Circuit Court last week on behalf of the Chicago teacher against Xtra Lease and AJF Warehouse Distributors. Details of the lawsuit claim the driver operating the tractor trailer was driving too fast during for conditions and failed to keep a proper lookout. More than $100,000 is being sought by the plaintiff for damages.

The 54-year-old man was the director of the technology department at Taft High Public School at 6350 W. Bryn Mawr Ave. The man is survived by his wife and two adult daughters.
