Listeria Contamination Leads to Trader Joe's Recall

|

A recall of Trader Joe's 'Broccoli Slaw & Kale Salad White Chicken Meat", was issued by the United States Department of Agriculture over a potential Listeria contamination. The USDA notified Trader Joe’s of the recall after Ghiringhelli Specialty Foods recalled over 33,000 pounds of the product. The products recalled were shipped to the Trader Joe's distributors in Utah, Nevada, Arizona, and California. Ghiringhelli Specialty Foods discovered the problem on Tuesday after the vendor of the sunflower seeds notified the company of a possible contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. Each container of slaw contains sunflower seeds from this seller. To date, there have been no confirmed cases of Listeria from consuming this product. The public is encouraged to throw away, and not consume it. Trader Joe’s will issue a refund to anyone who purchased the product.
