Motorcycle Crash Kills Rider in Funeral Procession

|

A St. Louis motorcycle crash occurred while a group of bikers escorted a funeral procession on Monday. The motorcyclist was a member of the Patriot Guard, a group that rides in funeral processions often to honor law enforcement or military officials. According to the St. Louis County Police Department, the accident occurred at around 1:30 p.m. as the procession was en route to the Jefferson Barracks Cemetery. The motorcyclist, a 64-year-old man, was struck by a minivan on Telegraph Road who then collided with another vehicle. An ambulance rushed the biker to the hospital where he was pronounced dead by medical personnel. It is unknown if the driver will be charged for the crash.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that statistically an individual’s chance of being killed in a motorcycle crash is 26 times greater than that of an auto accident involving a passenger vehicle. The impact of a motorcycle crash is often tragic resulting in serious injuries or death of the motorcyclists. Do you know what to do following a motorcycle accident?
