Two Women Killed by Amtrak in St. Louis

|

Last night, two women were killed in an Amtrak train accident in St. Louis. According to the St. Louis police, two women were struck by an Amtrak train at approximately 11:30 p.m. near South Kingshighway, just south of Manchester. Apparently, the women were walking over the tracks close to the Kingshighway overpass when they were hit by the train. Both women were pronounced dead at the scene. An Amtrak spokesman said Train No. 316 was traveling from Kansas City and was only four miles from its downtown St. Louis station stop when it struck the women. The train was carrying 17 passengers and four crew members and no other reported injuries. The train was not damaged, but it was delayed for over two hours. Police conducted an investigation and then released the train to make its scheduled stop. No further trains were delay by investigations. The identities of the women have not been released.
