Dangerous Explosion in O'Fallon Prompts First-Alarm Fire

|

A dangerous explosion prompted a first-alarm fire at a business in O’Fallon, Missouri. Police and emergency responders were called to SAK Construction around 4:30 p.m. at 864 Hoff Road in O’Fallon. According to O’Fallon Police, several 55-gallon drums containing polymer resin reached a flashpoint and blew up. The polymer resin was being used to line PVC piping. The drums were currently being stored in a shed on the company’s property. The Hazardous Materials Emergency Response Team, known as HAZMAT, arrived at the scene of the explosion and conducted a thorough investigation. No one was injured in the dangerous explosion. It is unknown if SAK Construction will be held responsible for all damages caused.

Construction materials and equipment can pose serious hazards for construction workers. If materials and equipment are not maintained and used properly, those working with them, or in close proximity, can be seriously injured. The construction industry is heavily regulated, however, when regulations are ignored - people are injured or even killed. If you or someone you love has been hurt or killed in a construction related accident, contact Meyerkord & Kurth, LLC, and speak directly to a personal injury attorney. Sadly, workers’ compensation seldom provides fair monetary compensation for injured workers and rarely covers loss of wages.
