Takata Air Bag Defects Leads to Mazda Recall

|

Mazda has issued a recall for 374,519 of their vehicles due to Takata airbag defects. The airbags are exploding in the event of a crash spraying shrapnel creating a potential for serious injuries and death. The defective Takata airbags have been linked to more than 100 injuries and nine fatalities in various automobiles. The vehicles included in Mazda’s recall include their Mazada6 manufacturers between May 29, 2002, to May 5, 2008; Mazdaspeed6 made from July 1, 2005, to June 29, 2007; and a few hundred RX-8s built during June 25, 2003, to June 30, 2003. Owners of these Mazda vehicles should contact a dealer to receive a replacement airbag.

Recalls are issued to prevent injuries or fatalities once a product has been labeled defective or dangerous. Tragically, many of these recalls are issued after an injury, illness, property damage, or death has already occurred. Product liability laws have been established to protect consumers from dangerous or defective products. Unfortunately, thousands of individuals sustain damages due to manufacturers prioritizing their profits over the safety of the consumer. Vehicles, toys, electronics, and even food items are recalled annually due to defects. To hold a manufacturer responsible for producing an unsafe product, it is imperative to consult an experienced product liability attorney.
