An Illinois surgeon has been sued for medical malpractice. On December 23, the plaintiff, Alfred Matthews, filed the complaint claiming Dr. James R. O’Donnell and Advocate Health and Hospitals Corp. are guilty of medical malpractice that caused him to suffer additional injuries. The medical facility is located in Orland Park in Cook County, Illinois. According to the lawsuit, on September 6th, Matthews underwent surgery to have his gallbladder removed. Dr. O’Donnell was performing the procedure and severed a common bile duct. Matthew’s was required to receive additional surgeries to repair the mistake, causing physical and emotional damages. Experiencing damage to the common bile duct can result in serious injuries and death. Matthew’s is seeking compensation for more than $50,000 and expenses related to the lawsuit.
