Steel Workers Injured in Workplace Accident

|

On Wednesday, two steel workers were injured in a workplace accident at AK Steel Works in Pennsylvania. According to investigators, a reaction occurred in the plant’s melt shop furnace injuring one worker seriously and another worker suffered minor injuries. The accident is being investigated by AK Steel Works and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration is expected to join the investigation.

Each year there are thousands of workplace accident that occur in the United States. These accidents often result in workers suffering injuries and even death. Fortunately, laws have been established to protect worker’s rights. In Missouri, all companies that employ five or more workers must carry worker’s compensation insurance. Injured workers could be entitled to the worker’s compensation benefits that include medical coverage and replacement of lost wages. Unfortunately, the lost wages are replaced at a rate of 66.6% of the worker’s average weekly wage. The deficit often places workers in a financial bind and adds stress to a difficult situation. If you have been injured at work in an accident that you are not liable, you could have grounds to file a worker’s compensation case.
