A driver was seriously injured in a single-vehicle auto accident in Illinois on Thursday. The accident happened near Charleston, Illinois, nearly 140 miles from St. Louis, at around 12 p.m. According to the Illinois State Police, the driver was traveling on Illinois Route 316 when the vehicle veered off the roadway and crashed into a ditch near Riley Creek. Annually, there are around 37,000 individuals killed in auto accidents in the United States, according to the Association for Safe International Road Travel. Auto accidents can occur for various reasons and some of the most common include dangerous roadways, reckless driving, design flaws, and mechanical defects. Typically victims incur injuries that require medical treatment and time away from their job that can result in a financial hardship. Injured individuals should focus on healing opposed to stressfully attempting to obtain compensation. Insurance companies that negotiate with victims have the reputation to offer less than what is deserved making it important to contact an auto accident attorney.
