ATV Plunges Into Frozen Pond, Kills Man

|

An ATV accident caused the death of a Norfolk man on Saturday afternoon. The accident happened when 57-year-old Randall Simpson was operating a Polaris Razer all-terrain vehicle with a snowplow attached when he attempted to drive the ATV across a frozen pond. As he traveled over the pond, the ice broke causing the ATV to plunge into the water. Simpson was unsuccessful at disconnecting his seatbelt and was pulled into the pond with the ATV. Emergency crews responded to the scene at around 4 p.m. and an Ice Recovery Team recovered Simpson. Paramedics attempted to resuscitate him and he was pronounced dead after being transported to a hospital.
