12 Marines are Missing After a Helicopter Crash

|

Crews are searching for 12 Marines after two helicopters collided near Hawaii overnight Thursday. The accident happened in an overnight training flight over the waters close to the island of Oahu. The Navy, Marines, and U.S. Coast Guard searched for survivors despite poor weather conditions. A civilian witnessed the crash from the shore and called authorities at approximately 11:38 p.m. One of the missing Marines is from Missouri and crews have been unsuccessful at recovering any of the missing individuals. The search and investigation continues and authorities are warning individuals on the island of Oahu to stay out of the ocean due to debris from the crash.

Aviation accidents do not occur as frequently as auto accidents because there are far fewer aircraft in the sky than vehicles on the roadways. While there are only 100-200 aviation accidents that occur annually, their fatality rates are nearly 100%. There are endless possibilities as to the causes of aviation accidents, but often a form of negligence is to blame. The pilot, air traffic controllers, mechanical crews, or airline could be liable for the crash and you owe it to yourself to explore your options to obtain justice for your accident.
