Collinsville Woman Killed in Car Crash

On Saturday night, a Collinsville woman was killed in a head-on car crash. The accident happened in Jersey County, Illinois when the 26-year-old woman was operating her vehicle on Illinois Route 267. According to the authorities, the woman had attempted to pass a vehicle in front of her. As she crossed the center line into the opposite lane, she collided head-on with an oncoming vehicle. Tragically, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The driver of the other vehicle was airlifted to a St. Louis hospital and is listed in critical condition. The Illinois State Police is investigating the accident and did not indicate if alcohol was a factor in the crash.
