Traffic Accident Involves Tractor-Trailer

|

An accident took place on Interstate 64 around 6:15 in the morning on Tuesday involving a tractor-trailer and a Kia. The driver of the Kia tried to pass the tractor-trailer while driving in the right lane of the interstate and on the shoulder, which resulted in the two vehicles hitting each other. The individual operating the Kia then lost control of the vehicle and veered into the median. The tractor-trailer flipped over as a result of overcorrection. The driver of the Kia was hospitalized with minor injuries, and the driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured. Both people were wearing their seatbelts when the accident occurred.

Loss of vehicle control and overcorrection are two common occurrences that take place as a result of vehicle collisions. As a matter of fact, loss of vehicle control is often caused by overcorrection, which is the act of steering the wheel in response to an occurrence on the road. Often, people will turn the wheel violently and quickly as an automatic response to an unexpected event occurring, but that is very dangerous because the vehicle often reacts just as harshly, and will do things such as overturn or veer off of the road.
