Potato Chips Voluntarily Recalled Due to Possible Salmonella Risk

|

Old Dutch Foods Inc. is issuing a limited voluntary recall of their Flavored Potato Chip and Tortilla Chip products for possible Salmonella contamination. The issue is the milk ingredients that were supplied by Valley Milk Products LLC, their secondary seasoning supplier. These chips were distributed throughout the nation at retail and grocery stores. Five different types of chips are included in the recall. The company states that no laboratory tests have confirmed Salmonella but are issuing the recall in conjunction with the guidance from the FDA. The company recommends that consumers dispose of the chips and can contact the company consumer care toll-free line.

Companies carry a responsibility to design, manufacture and sell safe and reliable products. Consumers spend millions of dollars each year on products that they expect to be safe for themselves and their families as well. Most times a simple part replacement or a new product can mend the situation but other times injuries can happen due to the faulty or defective product. Food items that are recalled pose a different risk. Usually, food is recalled due to contamination which can affect individuals with compromised immune systems, elderly adults, and small children. Often consumers need to seek medical care if they experience symptoms due to the recalled products. Always keep a record of any doctor visits and if you suspect you’ve become ill due to something you consumed ask for a test to determine if you have salmonella. Contact a product liability attorney if you have been injured or sickened by a faulty or defective product.
