Cirque du Soleil Performer Injured During Rehearsal

|

A 39-year-old Cirque du Soleil performer was seriously injured in a workplace accident at the Disney Springs location. She came loose from the fabric that was holding her during a rehearsal last month and she fell head first to the stage after plunging 40 feet. She is currently still in the hospital with brain swelling and fractures to her face and skull. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration are conducting an investigation to the accident. The victim had experience with performing in shows, having appeared in them at a young age. She also just recently completed a two-month training process after being on leave for almost a year. This is a requirement of the company for those who are being reintroduced to the acts after an absence.

Workplace accidents can happen any place of employment and can range in level of severity. Companies all over the country are responsible for providing a safe workplace for their employees. According to OSHA companies should provide a workplace that is free from recognized hazards and also complies with rules, standards and regulations that are issued under the OSH Act. It is always important to alert your supervisor if you have been hurt on the job. The company has the responsibility to report any injury or fatality to OSHA within a certain time limit. An experienced attorney can help determine if you have legal grounds to seek compensation for your injuries.
