Man Trapped in Machine, Causes Fatal Workplace Accident

|

A man was killed in a workplace accident at one of the largest employers in Cartersville, Georgia. The worker was completing maintenance on a large piece of machinery when the accident happened on Saturday afternoon, according to the Bartow County Sheriff’s Department. For unknown reasons, he became trapped in the machinery and crushed to death. The worker, a 56-year-old man, was employed with Shaw, which has a great recording with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration. The investigation is ongoing to determine the details and cause of the accident

An average worker in the United States spends around 90,000 hours at their place of employment throughout the lifetime. Any task being committed numerous times or for an extended length of time increases the chances of suffering an injury. Workers can become complacent while doing their jobs, but the majority of workplace accidents are often caused by defective mechanical devices and unsafe conditions. When learning of a workplace fatality, most people assume that the victim must have been employed as a firefighter, construction worker, or police officer due to the level of danger related to those occupations. However, workplace injuries and fatalities can happen to any person. If you have sustained a work-related injury or lost a loved one in a workplace accident, a worker’s compensation or wrongful death case could provide you with the compensation and justice victims deserve.
