IL DUI Driver Faces Sixth Conviction

|

Last week, a man in Illinois caused an auto accident while he was under the influence of alcohol. The crash occurred in Urbana, Illinois on April 15th causing three people to suffer serious injuries. He has now been charged with aggravated driving under the influence and was released from jail by posting a bond of $300. The driver now faces 30 years in prison because this will likely be his sixth DUI conviction. The previous convictions were all in Vermillion County, and the first one took place in 1988.

DUI accidents occur more frequently than they should throughout the United States. According to Mother’s Against Drunk Driving, a fatal DUI accident occurs 28 times a day and victims suffer serious injuries in drunk driving accidents every two minutes. While there are numerous statistics to deter drivers from operating a vehicle under the influence, laws are broken thousands of times a year when people choose to drink and drive. If you have suffered a loss due to the negligence of a drunk driver, you have likely experienced an array of emotions ranging from despair to anger. One way to lessen your anger is to seek justice for your loss. An experienced auto accident attorney may be able to recover compensation and obtain justice for your case.
