Fatal Car Crash Occurs in Rockford

On Friday morning, a Rockford man died after a fatal car accident occurred involving four people. The Rockford police reported that a 24-year-old man was involved in a car crash during the early hours of the morning near 9th Street and 18th Avenue. The deceased was one of two passengers in a car that was operated by a 21-year-old man. The 21-year-old driver is suspected to have been speeding, disobeyed a traffic light and crashed into another vehicle. Alcohol is also believed to be involved. The driver of the other vehicle was treated for minor injuries. The 21-year-old driver faces numerous charges including DUI, disobeying a traffic light and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. He will also be charged with driving on a revoked license. He is in custody at the Winnebago County Jail.
