Forklift Accident Results in Workplace Fatality

|

A workplace accident claimed the life of a worker on Monday evening. The accident occurred in Little Rock, Arkansas when a forklift accident occurred. According to the Little Rock Police Department, 28-year-old Christopher Miller was operating a forklift at R/L Carriers and loading cargo onto a truck when the truck moved forward, causing Miller to fall beneath the forklift. Unfortunately, he was killed in the accident. The Little Rock Police Department and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration are investigating the accident.

Most Americans spend a large portion of their lifetime working to earn a living. During that time, few people worry themselves with being injured or killed in a workplace accident. Unfortunately, thousands of workers lose their lives in work-related accidents. In fact, in 2014, 4,679 people were killed while performing their job, and thousands more sustained injuries. When an employee is injured at work, they often have grounds to file a worker’s compensation claim. Individuals, in Missouri, that are employed by companies that employ five or more workers should be covered by worker’s compensation insurance. The benefits provided to the injured worker are in the form of medical expenses and replacement of lost wages. However, the lost wages are only replaced at a rate of 66.6% of the worker’s average weekly wage. To recover the compensation you deserve, you must contact an experienced St. Louis worker’s compensation lawyer.
