Farmington Man Injured in Motorcycle Crash

|

On Monday afternoon, a Farmington man was injured in a motorcycle crash. According to The Missouri State Highway Patrol, 48-year-old William M. Hicks was operating his 2005 Harley Davidson motorcycle when he lost control of the vehicle. Hicks was traveling westbound on Old Fredericktown Road when he lost control attempting to negotiate a curve in the roadway. The motorcycle collided with a 2010 Ford F150 at approximately 1:40 p.m. The truck was operated by 40-year-old Michael Kelley, and he was uninjured in the accident. Hicks was transported to the hospital by medical helicopter for moderate injuries sustained. The Patrol did not indicate if any citations will be issued.

As the colder months approach, fewer motorcycle accidents will occur. However, during the warmer months of the year, motorcycle accidents occur frequently claiming the lives of thousands of individuals. Motorcycle accidents can be caused by the recklessness of the driver; however, it is often common for motorcycle accidents to be caused by other motorists. Due to their smaller structure, motorcyclists can be difficult to see on the roadways especially in a driver’s blindspot. For this reason, as well as many others, drivers should drive attentively and cautiously at all times. Individuals injured in motorcycle accidents should consult the advice of an experienced St. Louis motorcycle accident attorney to determine if they have grounds to file a case.
