Woman Scalped in Workplace Accident

|

On Saturday, a woman was scalped in a workplace accident. The accident happened at approximately 6:45 p.m. at the Kalafatis Fresh Produce. The 21-year-old employee was cleaning a conveyor belt when her hair got caught in the machine. Her hair was ripped from her head, scalping her from her forehead to her neck resulting in serious injuries. She is said to be in stable condition at the hospital. The accident is under investigation.

The majority of the population in the United States work an average of 40 hours per week to earn a living to provide financially for themselves and their families. The more time at their place of employment, the greater the risk of a workplace accident. Most people do not concern themselves with the possibility of being injured or killed at work, but thousands of work-related injuries and deaths are sustained every year. Employers with five or more workers in Missouri and nearly all construction companies must purchase worker’s compensation insurance to provide benefits to insured workers. The benefits provide medical treatment and replacement of lost wages; however, the wages are only replaced at a rate of 66.6% of the worker’s average weekly wage. To recover the compensation you deserve, it is imperative to consult an experienced St. Louis worker’s compensation lawyer.
