Wisconsin woman using Facebook before crash

34-year-old, Kari Jo Milberg was charged in Pierce County Circuit Court, Wisconsin stemming from a 2013 texting while driving crash. In addition, Milberg killed three of the four passengers in her vehicle, while she was using Facebook and messaging while driving. Milberg was traveling on Highway 35 in the south lane when she abruptly made a U-turn and was hit by a truck in the northbound lane. After the impact, Milberg's vehicle spun and hit a guardrail in the northbound lane. Milberg was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, and was ejected from the vehicle.

Three children, which were killed in the crash: Milberg's daughter, 11-year-old, Lydia, and her two nieces, Clara and Laynie, both age five. Milberg's three-year-old son, Easton was injured in the crash, but luckily survived. The driver and passenger of the truck were both uninjured in the accident. According to records, Milberg received an incoming message on her phone, and 30 seconds later the crash occurred. Likewise, according to the GPS on Milberg's phone she was on Facebook Chat just prior to the crash. Moreover, Milberg had driver inattention due to Oxycodone and Midazolam in her system.
