GlaxoSmithKline in the hot seat for Zofran risks during pregnancy

|

Although the FDA for use does not approve the anti-nausea drug, Zofran for use during pregnancy, the manufacturers of the popular drug has marketed it as such. As a result, many women are unknowingly taking Zofran while pregnant, and the results are damaging. Many of these babies are being born with life-altering birth defects such as cleft lip, cleft palate, and heart defects. Now, the families are looking for answers, and looking to the law for help.

Zofran is used to treat nausea, and is typically prescribed to cancer patients receiving treatment, or those who have recently had surgery. The makers of the drug are, GlaxoSmithKline, and are at the brunt of the scrutiny. Since 1992, GSK has been receiving notices from families having babies with birth defects since taking Zofran. Sadly, the pharmaceutical giants have done nothing to recify the situation, and now they're facing legal consequences. Prior to its unveiling, Zofran was tested on animals, and it was shown that the drug reaches past the placental barrier, and was deemed unsafe for use in pregnant humans.

If your family has been negatively impacted by the use of Zofran, or any other drug, we can help. Please contact our experienced St. Louis personal injury attorneys at Meyerkord & Kurth today for a free consultation.
