When you go to enjoy a family dinner at a restaurant, the last thing you think will happen is a car crashing into the establishment, yet that is what happened in O’Fallon, Missouri. In addition, the car crash happened at lunchtime Sunday at the Golden Corral when an SUV smashed into the wall of the restaurant. Likewise, although there were seven people in the impact area of the restaurant at the time of the crash, no one was injured.
Miraculously no one happened to be sitting at the tables that the car crashed into. Even more astonishing, police informed the customers that the wall that the car struck was non-load bearing, and it would’ve crumbled on top of the diners if it had hit a load bearing one. Witnesses that saw the crash were unfortunately in the rescue crews path and were using cell phones to record the chaos instead of moving out of the way.
The driver of the SUV was a woman in her 40’s, and although it is unknown what caused her to crash into the restaurant, witnesses heard her accelerate the engine before she hit the wall. Presumably she mistook the brakes for the gas pedal.
