St. Louis Child Injured After Struck by Car

|

A pedestrian accident has left an 11-year-old boy in critical condition after a collision with a car. The boy was struck on Farlin Avenue in north St. Louis on Sunday afternoon. Emergency crews responded immediately at the accident around 3 p.m. Authorities are investigating the accident to determine the cause and details of the crash. The driver stopped after hitting the boy and remained at the scene.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, pedestrian accidents are on the rise in the United States. In 2011, 69,000 pedestrians were injured, and 11,000 were children under the age of 14. The Department of Transportation is organizing programs and providing communities with resources to reduce pedestrian accidents. Pedestrians are encouraged to take all safety precautions including using sidewalks and crosswalks when available, wear bright reflective clothing, and be attentive to traffic.

Pedestrians that comply with all safety precautions may still be injured or killed in an auto accident. Individuals responsible for auto accidents drive carelessly, intoxicated, or aggressively inflicting injuries and death onto others. To hold at-fault drivers responsible, it is imperative to contact a skilled St. Louis pedestrian accident attorney to represent your case.
