Missouri Verdict Awards $6.7 Million in Fatal Crash

|

In 2013, Joshua Holesapple was killed in a car accident on U.S. 63. The accident happened on a section of the highway that was under construction. As Holesapple was traveling northbound, a driver of another vehicle came into his lane and struck him head-on. The driver was attempted to bypass the construction, and when he realized cones blocked his lane, he drove into the northbound lanes colliding with Holesapple.

Holesapple’s wife, Laurie, and her family of West Plains sued the Missouri Highway and Transportation Commission for the wrongful death of Joshua. The trial concluded on Sunday in Howell County. The jury awarded the family $6.7 million and the attorney for the Missouri Highway and Transportation Commission expressed his disappointment. The commission will only have to pay approximately $409,000 due to judgment caps.
