MO Woman Gets 5 Years for Car Crash

|

A St. Louis, Missouri woman, receives a five-year jail sentence for a fatal car crash that killed an off-duty Eureka fireman. Furthermore, 40-year-old, Jael Clem pleaded guilty this week to involuntary manslaughter. Likewise, Clem’s guilty plea was part of a deal with the prosecution that included dismissing two other charges: armed criminal action, misdemeanor child endangerment.

The evening of March 7, 2014, Clem was driving drunk on Highway O when she attempted to pass a vehicle, and struck 49-year-old, Gregory Light’s vehicle head-on. Sadly, Light died at the scene from his injuries.

Clem’s car flipped over and came to rest in the eastbound lanes. Tragically, Clem’s 11-year-old daughter was in the vehicle at the time of the car crash and was taken to a nearby hospital. Luckily the daughter survived the car crash. Both Clem and her daughter were wearing their seatbelts, yet Light was not.
