Teen Responsible for Fatal Drunk Driving Crash

|

Police in San Jose have arrested a teen driver who is accused of causing a drunk driving accident and hit and run. The DUI accident happened on Monday when 19-year-old Carlos Villalobos was operating an SUV when he ran a red light and collided with a Volkswagen bug at the intersection of Senter and Singleton. The driver of the Volkswagen, 36-year-old Carlos Manrique Torres, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident and Villalobos was transported to the hospital by ambulance. Witnesses stated that an SUV was speeding and driving erratically just before the collision. Authorities believe that Villabolos was involved in other auto accidents prior to the deadly crash, but have not released the details other than changing him with hit and run. He has also been arrested for drunk driving and outstanding warrants. It is unknown if any other individuals sustained injuries.

As the holidays are quickly approaching, many individuals are celebrating and often consuming alcohol. While it is perfectly acceptable for adults to indulge in alcohol beverages, driving under the influence is illegal and can cause serious and deadly accidents. According to Mother’s Against Drunk Driving, there are approximately 28 people killed in auto accidents caused by drunk drivers every day. If you have sustained an injury or lost a loved one in a DUI accident, you are entitled to fight to hold that person responsible for the damages they have caused.
