Medical Malpractice Lawsuit Filed for Surgical Error

A man in Cook County, Illinois has filed a lawsuit claiming his doctor and hospital are responsible for medical malpractice that occurred during a hernia surgery. According to the complaint, on November 22nd, 2013, Stephen Piggee had undergone surgery for a hernia at Advocate Christ Hospital and Medical Center. During that operation, Piggee claims a cyst was not fully removed causing further complications. The plaintiff claims that a lymphatic leak ensued resulting in additional medical treatment, and it caused severe pain and altered his life. The lawsuit was filed against Dr. Steven Schaefer, Dr. Ariane Abcarian, Advocate Health Care Network, Advocate Health and Hospitals Corporation, Advocate Christ Medical Center, Advocate Medical Group and Advocate Christ Medical Group. The plaintiff is seeking more than $50,000 for his damages.
