Glass Bottles Cover Roadway in Tractor-Trailer Accident

|

During the very early hours of Saturday, a tractor-trailer accident resulted in glass bottles spilling over the roadway. The accident happened at around 12:31 a.m. when a driver was operating a tractor-trailer that contained 42,000 pounds of empty glass bottles. As the truck traveled northbound on Interstate 100 in Virginia, the driver veered off the roadway, destroying around 325 feet of guardrail, and crashed into the median. The truck’s fuel tank was damaged causing 120 gallons of diesel fuel to spill. Fortunately, emergency crews were able to contain the fuel without a fire taking place. The Virginia State Police Department is investigating the accident and has charged the driver with reckless driving.

Tractor-trailers can weigh up to 80,000 pounds and when involved in an accident, the impact can be devastating. Driving under the influence, fatigued driving, distracted driving, and speeding are all common examples of truck driving negligence that cause accidents. Victims of truck accidents should seek the legal guidance of a truck accident attorney to receive a full investigation to determine the cause of the crash, as well as any liable parties. While the driver may be responsible for the accident, the trucking company may also be held accountable. It is imperative to contact an experienced truck accident attorney to examine all aspects to obtaining compensation for your damages.
