Diesel Fuel Spilled on Roadway After Semi-Truck Accident

|

On Saturday afternoon, a semi-truck accident caused a major traffic delay in Oklahoma. According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, a semi-truck was traveling on Interstate 44 when the driver lost control and overturned the truck at approximately 3 p.m. The accident caused the fuel tank to rupture causing diesel fuel to spill onto the roadway. The eastbound lanes of I-44 were closed near Penn for several hours while crews cleaned up the fuel. The driver was transported by ambulance to the hospital, and his current condition is unknown. Fortunately, no other vehicles or individuals were involved in the crash.

Semi-truck accidents can be very dangerous due to the size and weight of the vehicle. Commercial trucks can weigh in excess of 80 pounds, and when traveling at speeds of around 60 mph, the impact of a collision can be deadly. Truck accidents are commonly caused by distracted driving, operating the truck under the influence of drugs or alcohol, and fatigued driving. Along with driver negligence, mechanical defects and issues with the vehicle can also be to blame. If you have been injured in a truck accident, it is important to consult a personal injury lawyer to properly determine the liability of the accident.
