Best Buy Sued for Slip and Fall Accident

|

An Illinois man has filed a lawsuit against Best Buy claiming he was injured in a slip and fall accident. On December 7th, Richard Fancher filed a civil lawsuit in Madison County Court alleging he suffered injuries to his back when he slipped and fell on ice behind a Best Buy store located in Glen Carbon. The store building is owned by the Capitol Realty Group who is also named as defendants in the lawsuit. Both Best Buy and Capital Realty Group are being accused of failing to maintain their premises to prevent an accident. Fancher is seeking more than $50,000 in compensation as well as court fees from each defendant.

Slip and fall accidents happen multiple times a year due to the negligence of property owners. Icy conditions, wet or slippery floors, and tripping hazards can cause slip and fall accidents. Property owners and managers must remove snow, ice, or other hazards in an appropriate amount of time to avoid an accident. Premises liability laws require that all property owners and managers provide a safe environment to prevent the harm of anyone that enters their property. Slip and fall accidents, dog bites, food poisonings, and drownings are all examples of premises liability accidents, and any individual that has suffered due to an accident on another person’s property should seek the legal guidance of a premises liability attorney.
