IL Teen Killed in Car Crash

|

A teenager was killed in a car accident in Swansea, Illinois on Tuesday afternoon. The accident report states that 18-year-old Nicholas Kraus was operating a 2006 gray Ford Fusion traveling on Old Collinsville Road southbound when he lost control and slid into the northbound lanes. Kraus’ vehicle then collided head-on with a 2008 Cadillac driven by an unidentified woman. Kraus was transported by ambulance to the hospital in Belleville and later transferred to a hospital in St. Louis. He succumbed to his injuries, and the St. Louis medical examiner’s office has listed the cause of death as blunt-force trauma. The female driver of the Cadillac sustained minor injuries and received treatment at the scene of the accident. The St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the accident and believes the rainy weather caused the crash.
