California Man Attacked on Dog Walk

|

A 76-year old man shot and killed his own dog after being attacked in San Mateo County, California. Police reported that the attack happened early afternoon when the owner was walking his large Mastiff dog when it began attacking him. Allegedly the dog would not stop until the man took matters into his own hands and shot the dog before authorities could respond. Authorities reported that the mad was taken to a local hospital for bites to his lower leg and is expected to recover. The officers reported that the dog had previous reports of bites.

Thousands of people visit emergency rooms each year and millions of dollars are being spent on dog bite injuries. Everyone should be wary of dogs and their ability to attack. Even the smallest or sweetest dog can show aggression so it is important to always pay attention to behavior. Never leave any animal unattended with children or the elderly, as they may not be strong enough to stop an attack. Dog bites and attacks may not only injury the victim but can also require surgery, physical therapy and return follow-ups for their injuries. This can become quite expensive to the victim. However, the victim may be entitled to compensation if they are attacked or bitten by a dog owned by another person. A personal injury attorney can determine if you or your loved one has grounds to pursue legal action for injuries caused by dog bites. These injuries can be very costly to the victim and it is always important to discuss all of your legal options after being attacked.
