Dog Attacks Owners in Tampa Bay

|

Two people were attacked by a dog named “Scarface” in Tampa Bay. The 52-year-old female owner was trying to put a sweater on the pit bull mix when the dog began attacking her. Her husband tried pulling the dog off of her, but the dog turned and began attacking him. Their son, in his early 20’s, grabbed a knife and began stabbing the dog in the head and neck. They were able to escape, and the dog was left in the backyard. Police officers arrived on the scene and tased the dog. The individuals injured were transported to the hospital, and the woman’s injuries are serious but not considered life-threatening.

More than 1,000 people seek emergency care each day due to dog bites. These bites can produce injuries that range from minor to severe and can be costly to the victim. The average hospital cost for a dog bite-related stay is $18,200. This is a huge expense to the victim and doesn’t even cover emotional or stress related injuries. If a dog that does not belong to you causes you harm, contact a personal injury attorney. An attorney can review your case and hold the dog owner liable for your injuries.
