San Diego Pedestrian Killed Over The Weekend

|

A San Diego man was struck and killed in a late night pedestrian accident last weekend. According to the San Diego Police, a 67-year-old man was hit by a vehicle while attempting to cross the street on 2800 El Cajon Boulevard. The 27-year-old driver was traveling westbound at approximately 9:55 p.m. on Friday when he struck the man. According to the SDPD Sergeant, the driver said he did not see the man until the impact. Authorities say the pedestrian ignored warning signs against pedestrian crossings and attempted to cross the busy street. The driver stayed on scene and cooperated with police. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital where he died from his injuries. The accident is still under investigation, and it is unclear whether speed or alcohol was a contributing factor in the pedestrian accident. The San Diego Police Traffic Unit will conduct an investigation.
