Recall Issued For Mei Shun Noodle, Inc.

Due to undeclared shellfish and soy, a recall has been issued by the FDA for a Mei Shun Noodle product. The Chicago company has been asked to recall its 6毛FIVE branded Rice Noodles, 12-ounce packages. According to the Illinois Department of Public Health, the the mislabeling was discovered during a routine inspection. The 6毛FIVE Rice Noodles may contain shrimp and soy, which are not included on the label. These ingredients may cause a serious and even fatal reaction for persons allergic to shrimp, shellfish, and soy.

Shellfish and soy allergic symptoms may include indigestion, stomach cramps, diarrhea, vomiting, hives, and shortness of breath. A more severe reaction can be swelling, wheezing, coughing, and weak pulse. There is a risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction for people who have an allergy to shellfish if they consume the product.

According to the company, the affected rice noodles were only distributed to retail stores in Chicago area. The freshly produced noodles labeled 6毛FIVE Rice Noodles, 12-ounce package, was distributed between 8/16/2016 and 8/17/2016. There are no reports of illnesses in connection with this recall to date.
