Teenage Boy Injured In Pedestrian Accident Outside Haunted House

A teenage boy was involved in a pedestrian accident while attending a haunted house on Saturday night in Bladen County, North Carolina. Witnesses say the boy was chased out of a Haunted House by a chainsaw character and then hit by an SUV around 11:45 p.m. on N.C. 211. According to police, the 14 or 15-year-old boy was transported by helicopter to the New Hanover Regional Medical Center. Officials say he is in stable condition.

The accident occurred close to the railroad crossing at Abbottsburg, just east of Twisted Hickory at the Clarkton Haunted House. Witnesses saw the boy running out of the house and into the roadway. According to one witness, the boy was running from someone a part of the production that was wielding a chainsaw.

A spokesperson for the Clarkton Haunted House stated the incident was a freak accident. Many of the characters a part of the production are on the local fire department, and many stopped to respond to the accident. According to the Highway Patrol trooper, the driver of the SUV stayed at the scene of the accident and will not be charged. The investigation into the pedestrian accident continues.
