Multiple Traffic Accident Outside The Greater St. Louis Area

|

Two fatal traffic accidents happened just outside the Greater St. Louis area over the weekend. In St. Peters, a driver was killed while traveling westbound on Salt River Road. Officials say the 78-year-old male driver crossed the centerline and collided head-on with a pickup truck. Central County Fire said the victim died at the scene of the crash. There is no information on the driver of the pickup truck.

Another traffic accident occurred in O’Fallon, Illinois on Route 50 at Scott Troy Road. Authorities in St. Clair County say a multiple-vehicle accident has left one person dead and several others injured. Police say an argument inside a tractor-trailer cab between a man and a woman caused the six-vehicle crash. Officials say one person was killed and four others were taken to a nearby hospital. Police identified the victim as a 67-year-old woman driving a Ford Escape. The four others injured are expected to recover.

Witness say the semi-truck was speeding and that a female jumped out of the cab just before the accident. The driver of the tractor-trailer was taken into police custody where he remains awaiting formal charges. Illinois police say the crash site was spread for nearly a quarter-mile.
