Medical Malpractice Suit Filed in St. Clair County

|

A medical malpractice suit was filed by a patient alleging that a catheter was misplaced. The complaint was filed back in October in the St. Clair County Circuit Court in Belleville, Illinois. It alleges that several medical entities and doctors, including Protestant Memorial Medical Center, did not adhere to medical care standards. The defendant claims the negligent acts and/or omissions resulted in the permanent and severe injuries to the victim. He claims that he suffered vascular and internal injuries which have resulted in pain, suffering, further medical expenses and mental anguish. He is claiming the defendants did not use the proper equipment to assess and place the catheter correctly and did not realize that the catheter was placed improperly. He is seeking over $50,000 in compensation and costs of the suit.

Medical malpractice is caused when a doctor or nurse, or other medical professionals, does not provide proper health care treatment. More frightening is the fact that over $3 billion has been spent in medical payouts each year. It is crucial to consult an experienced medical malpractice attorney if you suspect you have been injured due to negligence from any medical staff member. An attorney can help assess your case, conduct interviews with persons of interest, review medical records and determine if you have grounds to pursue legal action.
