Best Buy Settles Recalled Product Case

|

Best Buy Co., Inc., is agreeing to pay 3.8 million dollars in a civil penalty after knowingly selling products that had previously been recalled due to fire hazards. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission reports that Best Buy distributed and sold 16 products, ranging from electronics to cameras to appliances, which had open recalls from 2010 through 2015. Many consumers had reported fire hazards and irritation to skin after use. The Canon EOS Rebel T4i digital camera was the most popular selling recalled item. Best Buy has stated that they will implement a compliance program to monitor, track and disposal of recalled items.

Federal Law bans the sale of any product that has been recalled, and it is very disheartening that a major retailer knowingly sold products that could potentially harm consumers. Luckily, consumers are protected by product liability laws. Anyone who has suffered an injury by a product will need to immediately contact a product liability lawyer. It is necessary to understand your rights as a consumer and the attorneys at Meyerkord & Kurth, LLC can help hold the company liable for your injuries that resulted from their recalled product.
