Fatal Car Crash Kills Three People

|

Three young men were killed on Monday, March 21 after their car crashed into a tree in Sarasota, Florida. The Sarasota Police Department reports that the single-vehicle car crash killed three people and left only one survivor. Sources say the four boys were out celebrating a birthday. Police believe that the driver of the vehicle was speeding, lost control of the car and crashed into a tree. The impact was devastating causing the car to split into two. The fatal crash happened near the intersection of Old Bradenton Road and DeSoto Road at 3 AM. Police are still investigating whether drugs or alcohol played a role.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention report the leading cause of death among young people in the U.S. are motor vehicle accidents, estimating six teenagers between the ages of 16 - 19 die every four days from motor vehicle incidents. Young people are at risk for an automotive crash for many reasons including inexperience, distraction, not using safety belts and speeding.
