Volkswagen To Pay Consumers Billions

|

The Attorney General of Kentucky has announced that the state could get close to $100 million from Volkswagen for a settlement with the state. The company has agreed to pay the state after an emissions cheating scandal was uncovered. Kentuckians who have purchased Volkswagens, Porsches or Audis with the TDI are eligible to receive a portion of the settlement. Last year, the German automaker confessed to installing software that masked emissions from certain engines. Volkswagen will compensate $3.5 million to the state in civil penalties as well as pay restitution to 3,200 Kentuckians who have purchased Volkswagens. The suit should be finalized sometime in October 2016. Consumers globally should receive close to $10 billion from Volkswagen.
