Massive Recall From Toyota

|

The popular carmaker, Toyota, is issuing a massive recall of vehicles all over the globe due to a serious defect in the air bags. According to the Japanese automaker, the recall with effect a total of 1.43 million vehicles. Toyota Motor Corporation says the defective air bags have no known injuries to date. The vehicles involved in the recall include the Prius hybrid, Prius plug-in and the Lexus CT200h. The models recalled were produced between October 2008 and April 2012. Toyota estimates 495,000 vehicles in North America will be involved in the recall, as well as 743,000 vehicles in Japan. Toyota also estimates 46,000 vehicles in other regions, 141,000 vehicles in Europe, and 9,000 vehicles in China. The defect is due to a small crack in the driver and passenger side air bags’ inflators causing it to inflate partially. 11 deaths and more than 100 injuries are caused by faulty air bags every year.
