Teen Killed in Three-Vehicle Car Accident

|

A three-vehicle auto accident in Tuscaloosa, Alabama claimed the life of a teenage girl on Thursday morning. According to Tuscaloosa police, a 16-year-old girl was operating a Mazda 6 on NE Rice Mine Loop eastbound when she lost control of the vehicle, veered into oncoming traffic, and collided with a Mercedes GL 450. The impact caused the Mazda to spin in the roadway and it was struck by a Honda Accord. The Honda collided with the passenger side of the Mazda resulting in the death of the passenger. Authorities confirmed that a 15-year-old female was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The driver of the Mazda and the Honda were transported for serious injuries, and the driver of the Mercedes was uninjured. The accident is under investigation.

Teen drivers are involved in auto accidents more than any other age group. Officials believe that inexperience and reckless behavior are often responsible for car accidents involving teen drivers. Speeding, distracted driving, driving under the influence and aggressive driving are all examples of reckless driving that causes accidents resulting in injuries and death. While reckless driving is a common cause of accidents, dangerous roadways and vehicle issues are also to blame.
