Transportation Worker Struck While Changing Tire

|

A Tennessee Department of Transportation employee was hit along the interstate while changing a tire. The victim was struck around 7:15 in the westbound lanes and was taken to a local university hospital with a serious bodily injury. The driver was charged with not having insurance and driving without a license. Police reported that the driver is accused of not paying attention to vehicles that were slowing down which caused him to stop too quickly, lose control and hit the victim. A source reported that the victim is in critical but stable condition.

Pedestrian accidents send more than 150,000 people to emergency rooms each year. This is a frightening statistic for those that rely on alternate transportation. Victims of pedestrian accidents are often subject to high medical costs from injuries that they received during their accident. Medical costs can sky rocket depending on how serious injuries are. Victims may also need physical therapy, counseling, rehabilitation and possible modifications to their home to accommodate for their injuries. All of these require money that the victim may be responsible for. Always contact a personal injury attorney if you or a loved one is injured in a pedestrian accident. An attorney can help determine if the driver is at fault for your accident and help you receive compensation for your injuries.
