Store Employee Pinned By Car in Parking Lot

|

A Waltham, Massachusetts grocery store employee was hospitalized when he was struck by a vehicle in the store parking lot. This car accident happened after 4 p.m. and involved five parked cars. A witness reported that the driver accelerated when backing up and pinned the store employee while hitting another person, the parked cars, and a shopping cart corral. Police reported that the victim is in his 20s or 30s and sustained minor injuries but was taken to a local hospital. The accident is being investigated to determine if it was driver error or a mechanical issue that caused the accident.

It is determined that 60,000 people are injured each year in accidents that take place in parking lots. The National Safety Council surveyed thousands of drivers in the U.S. and found that two-thirds of drivers admittedly talked on cell phones while driving in parking lots and more than half admitted to texting and driving while driving in parking lots. Parking lot accidents happen all throughout the year but the holiday season is one of the biggest and busiest times for parking lot accidents. Not only do drivers need to be alert but so do pedestrians walking in these lots and parking garages. Always speak to a personal injury attorney if you or someone you know has been injured in a parking lot car accident.
